Msamaria Mwema Children's Home
Msamaria Mwema Childrens's home was started in 2007 by Mr. Peter Chege Gathungu and his wife Mrs. Winnie Chege. The home that started with three children, two boys and a girl, now has eighty four (84) children and youth aged between seven (7) and twenty (20) years. The home depends solely on well - wishers to keep going.
Gathaithi Orphans and Vulnerable Children Centre
Gathaithi Orphans and Vulnerable Children Centre is a project designed for children orphaned or made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS. It is a community based organization founded in 2006 by a religious order, by Mrs. Githinji, which was one of the first groups to respond to the needs of Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) at Gathaithi and its environs. The centre is registered as a Charitable Children Institution (CCI).
Mother's Mercy Home
Mothers' Mercy Home is an early intervention project that caters for disadvantaged children. It prevents them from suffering adverse health, neglect, delinquency or any other problem that interferes with positive child development. The Home was founded, owned and sponsored by the Mother's Union of the Diocese of Mt. Kenya South in 2001 under the Anglican Church of Kenya.
Makimei Children's Home
Makimei Children's Home was founded, by Mama Margaret, in response to the pressing need for assistance to orphans and vulnerable children. Our journey began when we welcomed our first child, Rachael, who is now a director of our home.
Divine Mercy Hope Children's Home
Divine Mercy Hope children's home is a charitable institution registered as a Faith Based Organization (FBO) in 2009. The home is located in Kaibabu Road 1km from Ngemwa shopping centre.
Spirit of Mercy Children's Home
Salome Gatune founded the spirit of Mercy home in Kahawa West for abandoned children in the Kamae area, as a haven for children who would otherwise be on the streets. The high number of children abandonment cases increased the number of street children within the Kamae area. Salome felt a calling and desire to establish a home for them.
Toto Angel Center
Toto Angel Center started as a daycare facility in Kanguruwe slums, Nairobi by Elizabeth Waitherero. Elizabeth was abandoned as a young child and faced many challenges that hindered her ability to complete her education and have a bright future.
Bethsaida Children's Home
Bethsaida Children Centre in Soweto, Kenya, started in 2012 as a small community-based organization registered with the government. The centre started off with a few children but as word spread, more and more children started coming the to the centre as the increasing number of orphans, destitute and street children would would stay around the streets of Soweto.
Fountain of Hope Centre
Fountain of Hope Centre was founded by Joan Seneiya who was troubled by the growing number of orphans and homeless children in her city. She decided to provide a safe haven where these children would be cared for and given a chance to rebuild their lives.
True Care New Day Centre
True Care Newday Center is a newly established safe haven for teenage mothers in Dagoretti Sub-County, founded in 2023 to support young mothers who have experienced sexual violence and early motherhood. The centre is recognized for its impactful work despite limted resources.
Kibera Pride Children's Home
Kibera Pride was started as a collaboration between Irene, a resident of Kibera Slums, and Andrea, a donor in Spain. Irene was born and raised in Kibera slums and schooled through sponsorships. This motivated her to study social work and community development and eventually begin an organization to offer opportunities for other children to study as she did.
The Sons of Manasseh Children's Home
Sons of Manasseh Children's Home was started in 2007 in Dagoretti near the slum called Ndunyu by the late Rev. Joseph Munywoki and his wife Beatrice Kirigo Thuita, moved to a rental property in Ngong Elpaso in 2009, and finally acquired land in Kiserian in 2012 and was registered by the Government of Kenya under the Ministry of Labour and Social Services.
Victorious Joy Children's Home
Rose, founder of Victorious Joy Children's Home, was an orphan and went through a lot of challenges, rejection, and abuse at the hands of her relatives since she was a baby, In her struggles, Rose promised God that once she grew up she would take care of orphans who were rejected by their families. Rose started a children's home with the help of well-wishers who brought food and clothing for the children.
Community Progressive Focus Centre
Community Progressive Focus Centre was created by Salyvaih Thuo while working at the Kenya US Embassy in Njiru, Nairobi County, Kenya. After seeing that many children were left unattended and uncared for in the area, she got inspiration and urge to establish a center where she could provide nourishing food, a place to stay, and other basic needs for children.
Fountain of Life Children Home
Fountain of Life began as a feeding program that targeted boys living in Eastleigh. The boys initially received one meal a day and would later return to the streets. One evening, a shop close to where the boys slept was broken into. Unable to find the culprit, security officials attacked and beat the children nearby. The boys thought of a safe place they could run to and came to the Fountain of Life. Many years later, the home is blessed to have a large family.
Destiny Rescue Centre
Destiny Rescue Centre was founded by Ms. Florence, who was inspired to serve young girls that are abused or victims of early marriages and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). The centre supports children by providing the basic needs of food, shelter, education, medical care, counselling, and access to legal service.
Place of Grace Children Home
Place of Grace Community center was founded in Soweto slum by the late Penina Maria Kioko. Maria managed to host 24 children in a single room, which was a real challenge, but her love for them kept her moving. POG's founder passed away in 2018 and her sister-in-law, Ruth Munanie, took over the director role.
Bondeni Children's Rescue Centre
Bondeni Rescue is a registered children's home run by Mr. and Mrs. Gitau. They have committed their lives to caring for vulnerable young individuals. Bondeni meaning "in the valley", aims to scale the heights necessary to fulfill the hopes of disadvantaged children.
Mary Faith Children's Centre
Mary Faith Children Centre is a nonprofit community based organization for orphans and vulnerable girls who have been sexually abused or have gone through other forms of child abuse. It was started in 2004 as a self help group for women to empower themselves. During their daily activities, they identified the need for starting a rescue centre for girls who have been sexually abused. The organization shelters girls who are vulnerable, especially sexual abuse victims.
Mum's Love Children's Home
Alice Mwende founded Mum's Love to provide a nurturing, loving, and caring environment to children needing care and protection. It started with Alice rescuing one girl whose mother wanted to sell her to traffickers. That is when Alice realized her long-term passion for having a children's centre.
Christ the Hope Children's Rescue Centre
Before Lift the Children started to support Christ the Hope Children's Rescue Centre, it had numerous challenges. Children went without food, they were constantly send out of school, and the centre struggled to keep up with rent and other bills. Although Teresia the founder has real passion and concern for the vulnerable and orphaned children, she needed help to actualize her work.
Serah Vision Children Centre
Serah's Vision Foundation is a non-profitable charitable institution registered under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection offering rescue, care, protection and re-integration to the orphans, street children and vulnerable children in the community.
Havilah Children's Home
Havilah Children's Home was founded by Madam Sophia and her assistant, Grace who first began feeding children in the local community. They established the home to offer education and a brighter future to young individuals in need.
St. Dorcas Educational Centre
St. Dorcas Educational Centre offers education, feeding, shelter, guidance and counselling, and religious activities to vulnerable children. The centre is surrounded by two slums, Kawangware and Kabiria, where most of the families are not able to afford even two meals a day or take their children to school.
